Rocky Point Spring Break

We spent four days at the cabin in Rocky Point (Cholla Bay). The first couple of days were a bit windy and chilly, but the last two were nice. The kids had fun on the beach and riding the quad around. Scott tried to do a little fishing, but gave up after about 5 minutes each time. He obviously did not catch anything. Just a cute photo.

Pipsqueak

Might spear fisher.

At least it was entertaining for the kids.

Catching some rays.

Maddy and Mason's Birthday

We celebrated Maddy's 6th and Mason's 2nd birthday in February. We had an ice cream party. The kids got to build their own sundaes, get their pictures taken in the ice cream parlor, play pin the cherry on the sundae, and hit the very strong pinata. The pinata would not break and by the time everyone took their turns (including Scott) every piece of candy and toy was smashed and broken into a million pieces. It was a cold and rainy day, but it was a good time anyway. Maddy got a teddy bear hamster, she has done a great job
taking care of it, so far!

Maddy's cousin Marlee painted the pin the cherry on the sundea.

Renaissance Festival

It has been a long time since I have ventured out to the Renaissance Festival, so the kids and I , my mom and grandma headed on out there. We had wonderful weather and the kids seemed to have a good time. They were exaused and fell asleep before we even left the parking lot. It was a quiet drive home.

Student of the month

Maddy got student of the month in December.
Her teacher wrote:
"I feel this student deserves the student of the month award because she is kind and considerate to her classmates. Maddy is a friend to all and sets a good example for others. She is also a conscientious student and an excellent listener. Good job!

We are so proud of her!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Chirstmas. The kids were so excited Chiristmas morning. We had a long day traveling between Scott's family and my family. Santa visited my mom's house Christmas Eve. They all like him except Mason who was okay until he sat on Santa's lap.

Maddy's Christmas Concert

Maddy's kindergarten class had a Christmas concert. They were so cute (and rather funny) singing their songs. Maddy was able to recite her poem that she won first place on at the concert.
Maddy's Grandma Toot-Toot, Great Grandma Mia,
Great Aunt Sissy, Great Grandma Wanda & Great Grandpa Burrell and of
course us were there. Scott is the blur in the background.

A quest to find the perfect Christmas tree

We decided we were going to have a real Christmas tree this year. So we bought a pass and headed up north. Scott's parents met us at Munds Park (just south of Flagstaff) Friday night where we spent the night at Scott's sister's cabin. We got up Saturday morning and drove another hour and a half to the south rim of the Grand Canyon to the designated tree cutting area. We pulled off onto a dirt road and did some off roading for about a half hour before we finally found "the one". It was a very cold day and there was even a few patches of snow on the ground that the kids got to play in. It was very exciting to watch our tree being cut down and loaded into the truck. I was very thankful that Scott's dad was there to help carry it back to the truck because it is huge. I did have to help get it inside our house when we got home. It is a good thing out ceiling is pretty high because we barely have enough room to put something on the top of it. I think we exceeded our 10 foot tree limit. I hope it makes it to Christmas!

Since we were so close to the Grand Canyon we did some sight seeing. Scott and the kids had never seen it. I now realize why my parent's were so paranoid every time we went to visit it when I was a child. The sight of your children standing near the edge of a giant hole in the ground was not easy to bear.
